Pantone Color of the Year 2012

We are already into the second week of the new year and just realized we hadn’t heard what color Pantone chose for this year’s Color of the Year. So we immediately looked it up and discovered Tangerine Tango is the big winner. I’m pretty happy with their selection. It’s very warm and energetic. I’ve already been seeing it everywhere including in some fashion and home decor products, unlike last year’s honeysuckle pink. And I think it would be great to color a wall or two in this lovely orange color.

House Happy: Hanging fireplaces

Winter’s here and definitely not going anywhere soon which makes me think of anything warm and toasty. Like hot chocolate and electric blankets. And while those two things are amazing they just can’t compete with this beautiful fireplace from Cocoon Fires I discovered while flipping through the latest Dwell magazine. It would be sooo nice to have this in our living room to stay warm by!

A belated Happy New Year to everyone! Hope your holidays were fun and that many good things happen in 2012 for all of us! Speaking of good things, we posted a few months ago about being published in How magazine and now we can say we’ve been published internationally as well. The Quote Hook was featured in not one but two great Dutch magazines! We’re so excited to be in 101 Woonideeen (101 Living Ideas) and Eigen Huis & Interieur! They are both amazing magazines and great resources for home decor inspiration.

Exciting news to share! Blend Design was in the latest edition of HOW Design magazine! It’s such a great graphic design magazine. I remember reading it quite a bit through the years so it’s an honor to be mentioned in their article about the great typographic products that exist, including our Quote Hook. Painted Floors

I have always loved the idea of painted floors (and painted stairs! but we’ll save that for another day). I was flipping through a Better Homes and Garden magazine and I came across this fun example that a DIYer came up with. Love the colors, love the stripes!!

Maine

Well we got another one checked off the bucket list! Actually two. We visited another national park and ate lobster in Maine. Loved the former but could go without having the latter again :) Acadia was beautiful even on the cold and rainy days. There were lots of amazing trails to hike and explore. And our personal all time favorite experience at this park was not one but two beaver sitings! I mean how often do people see beavers in their natural environment in their lifetime, especially since they’re nocturnal, and we saw two in the span of a few days. It was incredible! Here’s a few pics from the adventure…

Font Friday

Another Font Friday, or should I say Thursday. Since we will be out of town on Friday, I thought I would do this post a day early. I can’t remember where I first saw this font before but I’m so glad I found it because I love it! It’s so girly and has such a whimsical vintage feel to it. A little different from the clean modern feel I usually go for. It just makes you feel like you should be enjoying a sundae at an old-fashioned ice cream shop :). Pencil Carvings

A long time ago I had come across these amazing pencil carvings by an artist named Dalton Getty. And then today I was reminded of them when my dad forwarded me an email that had some images of his work. If you haven’t seen them already, prepare to be impressed! He has a lot of talent and obviously a lot of patience as well. The detail in each pencil is amazing!
